She wanted to know if I loved her

I responded with a question of my own

I’m breathing aren’t I?

She wanted to know if I’d be there for her

She wanted to know if I cared

She started asking these questions

They just came with a steady flow.

I just sat content and listened as I heard the list grow

I heaved a sigh and responded

Baby why all the questions

You asked until you ran out of breath

Where the insecurity is coming from, I haven’t got a clue

So let me just say this to you

I will love you with all I have

until there’s nothing left

I will love you until the end of time

With my last dying breath
