REAL TALK from KB: I have talking about apologies and amends
for the past week. The New Year is almost upon up...we can diet, we can exercise,
we can eat healthy, we can do so many things ....but I have heard very few
people talk about their character. I've heard very few people discuss spiritual
growth. I've heard very few people discussing the necessity for righting
wrongs.
There’s a difference between apologizing and making amends.
Apologizing is recognizing that you've erred. Oops, I spilled some coffee on
your shirt, sorry. That’s nice, but it doesn't throw the shirt in the laundry
and clear the stain. Making amends is doing something about your mistake.
Amends should not just be a onetime thing...an "I did
it and now what?!!" Amends should become a lifelong practice after an
apology...
Think about the story of Job...he was really tested but God
did not allow things to be taken without a plan of restoration. The Bible is fraught
with stories about restoration....
DON'T JUST STOP WITH AN APOLOGY....MAKE THAT THING
RIGHT!!!!!
