Black Lives Matter BY: KB © 12.5.14

REAL TALK from KB: Note to all the men of color in my life.  I want to wish you all the best and every blessing in spite of the fact that our country's steadfast refusal to accept the fact that its racists and bigoted systems and constructs have placed a bounty on your head.

YOU MATTER!!! Despite the fact that you are bombarded with messages that tells you that your existence has been systematically devalued unless you have athletic prowess or can provide some level of entertainment for the masses. You have been virtually castrated by restrictive and constrictive policies and procedures that keep you locked in subservience; a eunuch in the "Big House"
I am reminded of the Blaxploitation film Mandingo where people are afraid of the "rouge buck." I'm no fool, we, African Americans have always lived with the specter of racism and bigotry on some levels but not since the early 60's has the outward demonstration been so blatant. The openness and comfort with hurling epithets. The disrespect of P.O.T.U.S.....calling him Obama in lieu of Mr. President; no other President was addressed by media in such a way (subtle yet delivering the message); and now the police state where every Black life is viewed as a threat.

I pray that we come together as a people and first work on healing our communities and then in unity to demonstrate that EVERY LIFE MATTERS!!!!!

I am angry about the situation but I will not allow my anger to make me fulfill a stereotype or reinforce an already negative perception. My anger is pointed and focused in prayer…I want my prayer to invoke the words in Amos 5:24 But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!
