Isaiah 40:31 But they
who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with
wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not
faint.
I Corinthians 9:24 Do
you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize?
Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a
cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so
closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Acts 20:24 ESV But
I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may
finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to
testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
Philippians 4:13 ESV I can do all things through him who
strengthens me.
When did we learn to quit? We have adopted a pseudo “perfectionist"
attitude toward life, tests and trials. By that I mean that we quit anything
we're not good at to avoid the pain and struggle of the lesson; we tout false
pedigrees because our trials are shallow victories; like the old football hero
from high school we keep reliving achievements from long ago. But what new
things have you struggled with or accomplished?
This society is leaning heavily toward a modern day "If
it feels good do it" Sodom and Gomorrah philosophy. We don't think about
the consequences of our behaviors or the damage and impact the behaviors have
on ALL of our relationships, primarily our relationship with God.
The aforementioned Scriptures tell of the connection God
seeks to establish with us. He did not promise that everything would be based
on our comfort levels and desires. Seriously, how did you learn to walk or ride
a bike? You had to fall in order to perfect it; right? So when did you begin to
think that everything you do had to be based on your understanding and comfort?
When did you learn to quit or delegate? Where did you learn to rest on your
laurels?
Why do you think we have these verses of Scripture ?
Ecclesiastes 9: 10 -11 10 Whatever your hand finds
to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or
knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going. 11 I again saw under the
sun that the race is not to the swift and the battle is not to the warriors,
and neither is bread to the wise nor wealth to the discerning nor favor to men
of ability; for time and chance overtake them all.
- · (Sheol is Hell…in essence your best laid plans will land you there)
1 Timothy 4: 7-9 7But have nothing to do with
worldly fables fit only for old women. On the other hand, discipline yourself
for the purpose of godliness; 8for bodily discipline is only
of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds
promise for the present life and also for the life to come. 9It is a trustworthy statement
deserving full acceptance.…
Romans 8: 28-29 28 And we know that God causes
all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are
called according to His purpose. 29For those whom He foreknew, He
also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son…
The old saints used to sing a song…Lord, Help Me To Hold Out
The chorus ends with “until my change has come”….not until
my change comes…no! it’s not a grammatical error. The song wants you to know
that God HAS already provided and equipped you! (Oh! I know I’m preaching to
somebody now!!!!)
Put on the full armor of God!!! Read and note that the back
is not covered because there is no plan
for retreat!!!!!
Ephesians 6:10 – 18 10 Finally,
be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the
full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s
schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but
against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of
this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly
realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God,so that when the
day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have
done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth
buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,15 and
with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In
addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can
extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet
of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with
all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep
on praying for all Lord’s people.
QUITTING IS NOT PART OF GOD’S PLAN…Go forward in the
knowledge of who He calls He equips!
