REAL TALK from KB: The Holy Spirit and I have come to an
agreement; He lets me get some sleep and I promise to continue to preach, pray
and praise Him in font. I slept well but
I woke up bright and early deep in thought.
I wonder if all ministers operate this way. I know writers do
so I guess I have the double whammy!
So here goes: As I was praying this morning I was reminded
of a story my sister shared with me about a year ago; the story is about a man talking
to his son in a supermarket. The little boy was overwhelmed by the size of the
crowd and the wait time in line and asked his father about Easter. The father
tells his son…"it’s the time of year where some people worship some zombie Jesus." Now, as offensive as that might be to some of you it was this man’s reality.
Now the thing that hit me this morning about the story…is that it’s the other
way around to Jesus. Ephesians 2: 1 -6
Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your
many sins. 2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the
world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He
is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. 3 All
of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations
of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just
like everyone else.
4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that
even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised
Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6 For
he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the
heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.
Many of us walk around in garments of the grave….looking for
brains…when what we really need is to deal with our hearts! Amen
