I have been giving this some thought for some time now; I
was thinking about the right way to convey the message as well as the right
time to say it.
We live in a society of immediate gratification and quick
fixes. We have deluded ourselves into believing that it's OK to throw things as
well as people away. How? When? and Why? has this become OK? Since when did we become
judge and jury over people's lives? Since when did we get to determine an
individual's value and worth? We are quick to quote scripture and speak of
blessings yet, blessings are now only relegated to the things that enhance our
lives; benefits. I need to preach this a
little bit because we have gotten so far away from God and His word...
Scripture says...all things work together for the good of
those who love God...Romans 8:28 - nowhere does it mention that only the things
that benefit us.
We must turn our gaze inward when we experience trials. We
must look at what character defects are being exposed and polished. Our trials
are never about the other person they are about US as individuals; the other
party is just our "rubbing compound."
Withholding love as a form of punishment is an egregious
act. Telling someone that they are "unworthy" whether in words or deed
speaks volumes to the work that needs to be done. The enemy uses our weaknesses
and our character defects to alienate us from God and callusing and heart
hardening are the easy and subtle ways to attack. Who are we to dismiss what
God has created? (Psalm 139:13 -14, Jeremiah 1:5 )
PSALM 51: 10 -15 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
so that sinners will turn back to you.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
you who are God my Savior,
and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15 Open my lips, Lord,
and my mouth will declare your praise.
so that sinners will turn back to you.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
you who are God my Savior,
and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15 Open my lips, Lord,
and my mouth will declare your praise.
I have no desire to live apart from my feelings. I have no
desire to devalue or critique the worth of another human being...it's not my
place or my position. I am a lover John 13: 34 "A new command I give you:
Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
John 15:12 My command
is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
