REAL TALK from KB: I've discovered that no matter how much I
study the word, embrace the word and preach/teach what I've studied and learned
it's a constant battle to bring the flesh under subjection. I know I may sound
like "Charlie Brown's teacher" to those of you who do not have a
faith construct or point of reference so please allow me to elucidate as best I
can...
Sometimes you have to embrace the seemingly "bad"
in your life. These past couple of weeks I had my own personal "Jacob
-wrestle with it until it blesses you moment." My blessing came when I
realized that God did something for my good. Initially I fought tooth and nail to hold on to what I thought I had/wanted. I
was caught up in the emotion of the situation. Funny thing, in the middle
of prayer about the situation the answer came. I didn't like anything about the
situation. My ego was bruised because I wanted to dictate the terms of my blessings;
again, I was caught up in the emotion of the situation and not looking at
what was being provided.
Romans 8:28 New
International Version (NIV)
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
I have to embrace the goodness and perfect timing and the
perfect will of God in all things. I have to fully commit to Jehovah Jireh. I
cannot just talk about it or say it's real when things work out how I want them
to. I have to be more mindful of Proverbs 4: 23
The Matthew Henry Commentary breaks the passage of Proverbs 4: 14 -27 with these words (I
selected what I believe to be the main premise) Attentive hearing the word of
God, is a good sign of a work of grace begun in the heart, and a good means of
carrying it on. There is in the word of God a proper remedy for all diseases of
the soul. Keep thy heart with all diligence. We must set a strict guard upon
our souls; keep our hearts from doing hurt, and getting hurt. A good reason is
given; because out of it are the issues of life. Above all, we should seek from
the Lord Jesus that living water, the sanctifying Spirit, issuing forth unto
everlasting life. Thus we shall be enabled to put away a froward mouth and
perverse lips; our eyes will be turned from beholding vanity, looking straight
forward, and walking by the rule of God's word, treading in the steps of our
Lord and Master. Lord, forgive the past, and enable us to follow thee more
closely for the time to come.
